Usually, for converting raster images to vector ones, manual tracing and digitizing are the methods of choice. Unfortunately, these traditional methods can be quite time-consuming, tedious and complicated. Vextractor is a simple-to-use yet powerful application that offers a much simpler and faster solution for converting raster images to vector ones. Also known as a vectorizer, this kind of application is capable of converting raster images of any kind, may they be logos, drawings, maps, photos or illustrations, to popular vector formats. It supports output formats compatible with popular vector graphics management tools like Corel Draw, AutoCAD (DXF and DXB), Adobe Illustrator (AI files), ArcView Shapefiles (SHP), MapInfo (MIF), etc. It can also convert to common vector formats like WMF, EMF, SVG or EPS (Encapsulated PostScript files).
Vextractor’s main advantage is the fact that it comes with a lot of options and features which allow viewing and editing photos in a number of ways. Scaling, scrolling, color converting, rotating – these are just a few examples of the many viewing features. There are plenty of possibilities to edit the vectorization results as well.
Vextractor comes with a simple and intuitive interface. There’s also a built-in wizard that makes using this tool extremely easy. A comprehensive “help” file is available off-line. As you can see, it’s not only powerful, feature-rich and reliable, but also simple-to-use for anyone. The only downside of this tool is, in my opinion, its rather high price, but considering its many advantages, the price looks well justified.
